I'd still recommend it for those who need a budget PC that doesn't completely suck at gaming. Now mind you, the FX-8350 (with my experience) is absolutely capable of running most games fairly pending on your standards and budget. So even though there is quite a bit of CPU power available, the games just won't use it for whatever reason, leading to significant bottlenecks.

And ever since then, I haven't had any unexpected troubles with FPS.Īlthough, I think I should answer the question I originally asked, in case anybody else encounters the same problem.īased on what I have read (and experienced, I suppose), modern games often don't take full advantage of FX chips.

Ultimately, my solution was to upgrade to Ryzen. However, upgrading from an FX-8350 to a 9590 is not recommended IMO, since an overclocked 8350 can match or surpass the 9590. Yes, the Asus Sabertooth 990FX R2 can most certainly handle an FX-9590 chip with no problems whatsoever. G.Skill TridentX 1600Mhz 7-8-8-24 (OC to 2133Mhz 9-11-11-28 v1.Just to do my due diligence and mark this thread as "solved": I have had no lockups with this CPU, strange how misconceptions and rumors can spread. I am using Tuniq TX-4 and applied it using the pea method. Then also make sure to use good thermal paste.

There are 2 other things though, my case has lots and lots of air flow (Cooler Master 922 HAF). I have seen posts where people get it as low as v1.39, but I am running it at v1.46. Turn off Turbo, keep cool and quiet on, then undervolt it. I upgraded from a Phenom II x4 965 and I am pretty happy with the upgrade. When it is idle it is in the high 30's and when it is pegged out it hits 51 Celsius but doesn't go beyond that.

I am running a FX 9590 w/ 212 EVO (one fan) to cool it. Hey man, sorry to hear about your problems.

PD: Sorry I can't post screens of my current bios with voltages and all atm but I'm at work, if needed I'll update later. Do I keep it or should I go for something more simple like the 8350? I'm sorry if this question has been asked before but I just ran around a lot of forums and everyone seems to have problems with this CPU. I don't really want to overclock the CPU, just know if this setup is enough to make it work with standard ghz. I bought the 9590 and my computer started deadlocking after 5 minutes so I switched to default the bios and the problem persisted, but it took 15 to 20 minutes before the deadlock. I had the AMD fx8150 installed with this motherboard with a Coolermaster Hyper 212 evo. Hello everyone, I'm new and having some troubles.
